I think my grandson was almost as excited as me.  We didn't get started until just before lunch and by mid-afternoon, he and i got quite a bit moved out to the studio.  "Dinner" time for our dogs is generally around 4:30.  We have two that sometimes get on each others bad side.  This day was one of those "sometimes" and I had to break up a dog fight and dislocated my knee cap in the process.  So much for the "few days" set up. 

Migrating was a slow process but my grandson was a big help.

  Over a couple of days we got the majority of the small stuff moved over.  Once I cleared off my work tables those were moved over. 

I have actually taken a lot of joy in getting things put in place and organizing my fabrics.  Its been a long time since I was able to open my cutting table and leave it up.  Still need to put up some shelving so I can unbox some stuff but it is coming along wonderfully.  Next move is for my long arm. Maybe I can get the guys to do that in a couple days.

Wow, moving day has finally come. I'm thinking it is going to be more like a  migration since the rains has finally blessed us here with a light presence.

I have been playing around in my head different floor layouts, where I'm going to put this and where I'm going to put that. it has been so awesome watching it come together. I told my DH I'm very humbled to have such a great space, just for me.

Here's some pics before adding any my equipment and tools of the trade. I think it is only going to take me a few days to get everything moved in, having had time to plan out placement ahead of time.

I have to say I never really thought I would see the day when I would have my own "space" again.  Our oversized two car garage had a car port on it's east side that my husband chose to renovate for my sewing studio.  Here are two pictures of the "before". 

The sheetrock was finished yesterday with tape and texture.  Really glad we hired someone to do the heavy work.  Picked out the paint color today and my DH spent about four hours at our local home improvement store picking out finish trim, carpet and getting paint mixed. 

The carpet we decided to install is an heavy duty indoor/outdoor style.  I would have been happy with vinyl flooring (easy to sweep up all those errant threads) but it would also be cold in the winter time and if I am going to have to live with scatter rugs, I'd rather they be in my bedroom. 

I am again banished until the space is finished but I was able to snap a few more pictures to share the progress! 

Hi There! Hope you will bear with me as I am new to blogging.  I love FB and I do a little Instagram but haven't tweeted yet and since I have a new website up, I figured this was as good a place as any to blossom. 

My DH and I have been married for 17 years so he is totally aware of my fabric addiction.  When we lost our home through no fault of our own, I packed up my machines, current projects and most of my notions into many of the storage closets in our motorhome and put about ten large plastic bins of fabric in our storage unit.  We kept that storage unit for almost six years (ugh!).  After having moved six years later to our "forever home", he promised me I could have a sewing room.

At first we were going to simply enlarge one of the bedrooms. Time came and went and it is now three years later.  I've acquired more equipment and of course can never pass up a great deal on fabric or notions, so the work space in my sewing room has gotten smaller and smaller. 

Three weeks before Christmas, my DH announced my present this year was going to be my own sewing room.  We had two existing options, converting a 12' x 16' shed or converting a carport attached to the garage. 

My first choice would have been the shed because it would give me a better visual to the yard so I could keep an eye on my grandson while he played outdoors and the landscaping potential was endless. picture a cute country cottage with flowers all around. 

The carport on the other hand gave me potential access to "additional space", which every sewer knows is totally a premium bonus!  I had my doubts that it would be done before Christmas, but I am amazed at the progress that is being made.

I took a picture of the "before" and was subsequently banned until the project is complete.  I have to admit I have taken a peek!  I should be moving into my studio in the next couple of weeks.  I am sew flipping excited!
