As a kid I always remember the stocking to be filled with utility type items, whether it be stockings to cushion our feet, mittens to keep our hands warm, or oranges and nuts to fill our bellies. Our Lanyards make a great addition to that list of utilitarian items, always within reach and readily identifiable as a sign of freedom! Check them out in 1" or 2" widths in a variety of fabric / color choices. Come visit our Etsy store at https://www.etsy.com/shop/MadameThreads. Items pictured are in stock and ready to ship.

Spring is coming! My crocus have popped their pretty little blooms for a short stay. Phil says no more winter. Love is in the air. What better way to say it than with something custom made. Browse the gallery and Like us on Facebook.
starting Christmas presents a little late (who am i kidding?!?). Not what i had originally planned but i think she'll like it.
It is hard to believe that we are almost one month past Christmas. I just don't know where all the time goes and why does it seem to go faster the older (and slower) we get? On the days that I don't watch my friend's little 18 month old, I try to use what I call "school time" (when my grandson is off at school) for sewing. Whether it be quilting, piece, cutting, cleaning or organizing I have made myself a promise that I will spend at least a good portion of each "school time" day in my sewing room (hence my ability to believe I'll be more than ready for next Christmas). I have joined a number of communities on Google and am tickled pink that I have had over 17K views. Who would of thought???? I'm amazed. Here is a picture of my newest bag, it is reversible: If you are looking for something unique, original and one of a kind for that special lady in your life, what better way to remind her of your love than to give her something she is going to carry around with her everywhere and everyone is going to remark "Where did you get that bag?". Custom orders available. Please email for more information.

As I wrote in December, I had very little inspiration (or time) to make any of my gifts this year. I usually make at least something for the grandkids. Not this year, nope, nada, zilch. I wanted to but life just got in the way. I did manage to make a basket and trivet for a friend of my daughter's who was there for her during a difficult time. Once she acknowledged that she received the box, I was going to post a tutorial but I haven't got that written yet, I'm going to share pictures here now and work on writing a tutorial when my brain isn't so tired.
Every year I promise myself I'm going to be more prepared for the holidays. Its been 4 years since I've even had a slight jump (which was really nothing more than a hop and a skip) on my Christmas sewing. All I can really say is that sometimes life gets in the way.
I was certain that once the vegetable harvest was done, many hours would be freed up to spend at my sewing machine; but no, after the vegetable were picked, they had to be put up. Many quarts of salsa, dozens of ears of corn, beans, carrots, pints of beets and gallons of tomato puree. My upright freezer is so full I don't have room from my monthly groceries. Anyway, I'm really excited that I finally have my Longarm put back together. I just wish I had done it months ago. Now I remember why I hesitated; Tension. Tension. The one word that brings on more tension. Urgggg. This is supposed to be a time of joy and celebration. Besides, its Christmas. I have a whole list of gifts I could be making with my Longarm but URRRGGGG is all I can do right now. I operate a Mega 18 from Husqvarna. Yes, they make sewing machines too guys! After all, the sewing machine is a lady's favorite power tool! It almost seems this machine has been vexed from day one. When I first assembled the frame and installed the machine, it just would not run right. I double and tripled checked everything. After I had the dealer come out to check things, it became obvious it was an in factory setting that caused the problems. Now I've got a tension problem. I've checked and cleaned everything. Unfortunately my dealer is no longer in business. Thanks to the net, I'll should be able to find more than I want to know about troubleshooting my machine and hopefully start my gifting projects (for next year) soon! I am working on one project though, using a pattern downloaded from one of my favorite google communities; will post some pics soon. Moving into the Studio has given me the opportunity to go through ALL my stuff. I found so many treasures. I have collected patterns since long before my kids were born and they are now raising families of their own.
Not only will you find creations from my machines in the Market but also many of the treasures I rediscovered while organizing my new studio. We have been eBaying since 2001 and strive for excellent customer service. With close to 1,000 transactions, we maintain a 100% feedback rating. Please take a stroll through Madame's Market. I'm sure you'll find something you can live without. Summer Is Here! My oh my, where does the time go. I can't believe that it is already July, the 4th just around the corner. With spring time comes a lot of chores that take me outside, away from my machines. All those seeds calling my name, waiting to get jump started in the greenhouse and the garden needing attention too from the enormous crop of acorns we had fall this year. I swear they sounded like someone was dropping gravel on our metal roof!
All in all it has been a productive few months since I posted an entry. I have even been able to squeeze in time in the studio and enjoy having all the space to work with. My UFOs are calling for me. I've made a commitment to myself to finish at least one UFO before I start another new project. I'm not sure if I will be able to fulfill that commitment though because I have so many projects, thoughts and ideas running around in my head. We shall soon see what comes next. |
Hello and Welcome.
Some would call me a seamstress but I've simply liked to sew for more years that I care to admit. I've collected hundreds of patterns over the years and have come to realize that never in ten life times will I ever sew everything I've wanted. Archives
